Nissan Altima Tires
The Nissan Altima has a vast of models and trim models. Because of this, there
are also a number of choices for the type of tire used. For 2005 however, the
2.5, 2.5S and 3.5SL use P215/60TR16 tires as a standard. The 3.5SE model use either
the H-rated P215/55VR17 tire for automatic transmission and the V-rated P215/55HR17
tire for manual transmission.
The figures on the previous paragraph use the P-Metric sizing system, the sizing
system for tires used in compact cars. For P215/60TR16, P stands for passenger
car, 215 is the section width measured in millimeters, 60 is the tire aspect ratio,
T is the rating, and 16 is the rim diameter, also in millimeters. The tire ratio
is a measure of steering stability. The lower the ratio, the quicker the steering
response time.
The 2.5SE model, being the sports sedan version, has a slightly wider rim diameter
and lower aspect ratio. The lower aspect ratio gives it a better steering capability.
It is also available in two types, one for manual transmission and the other for
automatic transmission.
